ADB Ventures
We helped ADB Ventures develop their Impact Framework.
ADB Ventures is a planned Asian Development Bank facility that helps early-stage companies scale technologies that generate sustainable development impacts. This includes, for instance, topics such as climate change, inclusive finance and gender equality. To achieve its mission, ADB Ventures will fill two gaps that slow technology deployment: (i) availability of patient capital and (ii) ability to de-risk investments.
The objective of this project was to develop the ADB Ventures Impact Framework. First, we drafted a framework based on the emerging industry consensus on impact investing measurement. Subsequently, we presented this framework to internal and external stakeholders. This included ADB departments, impact investors, commercial investors and development finance institutions. Finally, we incorporated the stakeholders’ feedback and held valuable discussions with the ADB Ventures project team. Based on these inputs we finalized the Impact Framework.
The final Impact Framework aligns with (i) ADB’s corporate results framework, (ii) results monitoring frameworks of ADB Ventures’ anchor co-financiers, and (iii) emerging impact investing industry standards for impact measurement. The ADB Ventures Impact Framework is practical and works with data that are readily available within early-stage technology companies. Users can therefore easily track sustainable development impacts over time.
