AFD Sustainable Finance Training Program
We executed a Sustainable Finance Training Program for the banking sector in New Caledonia
The Agence Française de Développement (“AFD”) funds, supports and accelerates the transitions to a fairer and more sustainable world. It carries out more than 4,000 projects in France’s overseas departments and another 110 countries in the world. AFD asked Steward Redqueen to execute a capacity building program on sustainable finance for the financial sector in New Caledonia.
We developed a practical 2-day training program that was tailored to the capacity building needs of the participating financial instutions as well as to the characteristics of the markets and clients they serve. Five of the major financial institutions in New Caledonia participated in the training, represented by people from departments such as risk, business, legal, and portfolio management.
After the training, the participants had a good understanding of what sustainable finance is and how it affects their own institutions; either from a risk or opportunity perspective. Participants also developed an Action Plan with concrete measures on how to improve the sustainable finance practices of their own financial instution.
